A cat from Colombia reached hero status today.
In the following 45 second long video, shared by DLore Alvarez: a toddler, no more than 1 years old, is seen crawling on a floor, while the cat sits on a nearby couch.
Within seconds, the baby makes his way towards an open door and stairs leading down.
At the exact second, the cat, understanding what is about to happen – pounces on the baby and latches onto the little one… stopping it from trembling down the stairs and saves him from certain injury, probably death.
Although there are precautions needed to be taken in homes with both toddlers and cats – cats can recognize that babies are “human kittens” and cats often raise kittens communally.
So it’s not too surprising when they watch out for babies like they do with kittens.
as expected, the of video of the incident made its way onto social media, turned viral and has evoked a heart warming feeling in many.
People dropped all sorts of comments on the feline’s heroic act.
While some applauded the cat’s quick action, others hinted that cats make wonderful pets and guards of babies with comments on reddit and twitter such as:
“Who said cats are evil, show him this video to prove him wrong”
“The cat is a hero.” wrote a third.
“Leaves a warm feeling inside for sure”
The incident took place in Bogota, Colombia, and the toddler’s name is “Gatubela”, as reported by Fox News.
